Savusavu Town Trip

So far this trip we've been struggling to stay awake past 8:30pm... and I mean STRUGGLING.  I think it's all the rain.  This does however, cause us to wake up around 4am.  We've been up and out of bed ready to go by 6am most days.  With the increased rain and wind we had a constant clatter of falling coconuts on our roof last night, I think they were mixed in with these cool large hard black bean pods that are rather heavy.  The amount of things that fall on our roof makes me very surprised that people are not injured more often by falling coconuts (though, there are warning signs on the resort property).  We seem to lose power about two times a day, mostly it seems, due to just being in Fiji, only part of it is the resort.  It phases no one here.  Somehow food is still prepared and people continue on with what they are doing.  Everything happens here on "fiji time." If you ask a resort staff member what time it is, the response is often "Fiji Time" with an awesome chuckle and no real answer beyond that.  While things have not been quite what we have hoped, we are definitely relaxed for the first time in who knows how long.

Today we managed to sleep in a bit longer than usual.  We had a "later" breakfast and hung around in the clubhouse waiting for our van to take us to town.  We have been to town twice already but Saturday is the big market day here, and we loooove markets.  We picked up a few small goodies and walked through the market.  It was mostly vegetables.  Veggies, veggies veggies and a few freezers of fish caught recently and locally.  Justin was tempted to buy a whole Tuna for about $28USD and ask the resort chef to cook it up!
The market was neat, though we were hoping for some more goods to check out.

Justin just headed outside the clubhouse to play a rainy game of volleyball with a few of the resort staff.  Volleyball is on the schedule for 3pm every afternoon, though a game has not yet been played until now.  Today's rain has been a steady light rain all day, so at least we can function outdoors unlike the last few days.       I will probably go outside to cheer them on once I am done uploading photos and videos!
